Bruce Rock Engineering (BRE) has manufactured a 13.65-metre drop deck trailer featuring fuel saving features headed by lay flat ramps.
BRE is a bespoke trailer builder, with facilities at Bruce Rock and Forrestfield (Perth) in WA, and is well known for its innovative approach to achieving solutions for its customers that improve efficiencies and safety outcomes.
This latest trailer is no exception, featuring the company’s newly developed 4.4m lay flat ramps with electric over hydraulic control that minimise wind drag, particularly when travelling empty.
This unit has joined the company’s own transport fleet which is primarily responsible for moving components from its Forrestfield fabrication factory to Bruce Rock where the trailers are assembled. Other duties include transporting completed trailers to various shows and events around the country.
The custom drop deck trailer is equipped with SAF-Holland INTRADISC Plus nine-tonne air suspension and 19.5-inch Alcoa DuraBright alloy rims shod with Michelin 265/70R 19.5 XTE2 tyres.
The lead axle incorporates a BPW lift mechanism, again improving fuel economy and reducing tyre wear when travelling lightly loaded. This is controlled via WABCO Electronic Braking System (EBS).
Also incorporated is an effective safety mechanism – SAF Tyre Pilot – which continuously monitors and maintains the correct pressure in each of the tyres.
Other features include tool boxes on both sides and at the rear as well as a handy chain storage box neatly recessed into the floor at the front centre of the lower deck.
BRE is renowned for producing robust trailers with relatively light tare weights and this unit continues this trend with a tare weight of 8.76 tonnes.
