Bruce Rock Engineering launches national expansion at Melbourne Truck Show

Leading heavy road transport equipment manufacturer Bruce Rock Engineering (BRE) officially opened today its Perth metropolitan workshop facility in Forrestfield.

On hand to officiate the event was Hon. Jim Chown MLC the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport, Hon. Dean Nalder.

On display was the BRE Super-Quad, a 60 metre road train tipped to deliver much needed cost efficiencies to the mining sector whilst reducing heavy vehicle road traffic and therefore the impact on road infrastructure in the State.

Steel cutting and processing for all BRE manufactured equipment is carried out in the new Forrestfield facility, with the fabrication of the chassis of the Super-Quad also completed here, whilst its body, blasting, painting and assembly is completed in Bruce Rock.

Mr Chown stated “Bruce Rock Engineering is a WA owned and operated manufacturing company with a history dating back to 1980. It is always great to see a West Australian, family owned company grow nationally and continue to keep its manufacturing capabilities in this state. This new Forrestfield facility is strategically located right in the heart of a transport and logistics hub and on the road train route to the north of this state and to the east coast further strengthening our state’s capability to deliver cost and time efficiently.”

The new facility is purpose built, with all design, manufacture and construction completed in-house by the Bruce Rock Engineering team. It is one hectare in size, housing a 2700 square metre workshop and 350 square metres of administration offices.

BRE’s Managing Director Mr Damion Verhoogt said: “Today’s launch is a significant milestone for the business cumulating the organisation’s recent expansion into the east coast to extend the company’s capacity to deliver transport equipment to Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.

“The significance of the Forrestfied location means that we are close to our clients and  have the ability to provide Perth metropolitan access to repairs, modifications and maintenance.”

“Also noteworthy today is the announcement of our merger with welding and fabrication specialists Transbeam Industries.

“Our national expansion solidifies our position as a major manufacturer in road transport, whilst the opening of our Forrestfield operation together with Transbeam Industries will increase our manufacturing capacity by close to 50 per cent, benefitting our clients with increased operational efficiencies, greater service and maintenance back up.”

The Transbeam partnership brings with it considerable benefits to the operation, most notably the new plasma profile cutting machine which is the biggest and most advanced of its kind in Western Australia. Imported from New Zealand, the Transbeam team worked with German based Heinz Soyer Bolzenschweisstechnik GMBH and Kinetic Engineering to integrate the cutting machine with stud welding – a world first adaptation which will improve speed, accuracy and overall quality control for the mining sector, in particular.

Next week’s International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show at the Melbourne Showgrounds will mark the launch for Bruce Rock Engineering (BRE) nationally.

Founded in West Australia, the company is set for national expansion as a major manufacturer in road transport on the back of being awarded the sole national distributorship for the North American OEM Wabash equipment.

BRE’s Managing Director, Mr Damion Verhoogt says “this is a significant milestone for the company. With over 36 years of experience in the industry, we have a proud history of designing and building industry leading road transport equipment.

“We have always been respected as an innovator in the industry and the award as the sole national distributor for Wabash equipment is a testament of confidence in our company. This will significantly increase our capability to provide a full range of products and services including a new line of refrigerated transport across the country”.

The bi-annual transport event will provide a national stage for BRE to showcase their innovative and custom designed road transport equipment including the newly released 45-foot Arcticlite refrigerated semi-trailer.

BRE will showcase a total of six trailers, a grain tipper and a TaREX general purpose tipper which is well suited to the Victorian market, as well as a flat top, drop deck and refrigerated trailer from WABASH National.

Mr Verhoogt will have his experienced team on hand as well as representatives from Wabash to meet the 40,000 anticipated visitors at the truck show opening next Thursday 5 May 2016.

With the opening of offices on the Eastern seaboard, BRE will have the capacity to deliver end-to-end road transport services to the east coast, including Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Tasmania.

“We have a proud history of designing and building all of our equipment in-house and this is set to continue, nationally” says Mr Verhoogt.
